SUMMARY:
The early childhood instructional assistant will assist the lead instructor in daily classroom and building activities of children enrolled in the extended day program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Other duties may be assigned.
- Lead/Assist with small-group activities.
- Assist teacher in maintaining discipline and other functions while using positive approach to behavior management.
- Assist with family engagement activities and home visits.
- Present a pleasant caring respectful attitude toward children.
- Assist with set up of classroom.
- Prepare materials for specialized instructional units.
- Assist with attendance reports and related clerical functions.
- Assist with collecting and displaying documentation.
- Operate standard school equipment (i.e. computer copier laminator technology audiovisual equipment).
- Escort and supervise children as they move to and from various rooms.
- Supervise children within the building on the playground and on field trips.
- Assist with toileting and self-care needs of children when necessary (may include diapering).
- Assist with assessments and planning.
- Collaborate with co-workers.
- Attend and participate in meetings and professional development as required.
- Work with co-workers to form a positive supportive team atmosphere.
- Maintain and ensure confidentiality of privileged information.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
