The Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking to hire an Equipment Shop Supervisor to oversee plan organize and manage the daily operations of vehicle and equipment repairs for the assigned complex. The role involves interacting with other state prison complexes to ensure proper and effective maintenance support for vehicles. -Responsible for the training and ensuring that all staff and inmates are proficient in the use of Ron Turley Associates (RTA) and that completed work orders are closed in a timely manner
-Supervises and controls the operations of the vehicle and equipment repairs
-Attends weekly complex executive staff meetings
-Submits the monthly Preventive Maintenance (PM) due reports (Fleet Matrix) as well as the PM progress reports and weekly Out of Service (Matrix) reports to all executive staff
-Conducts daily progress meetings with staff and inmates to ensure all are aware of the needs in regards to existing vehicle repair status and vehicles waiting to be repaired or PM
-Determines what is needed for completion (i.e. parts tools repair data on failure) and confirms agreement with each task assigned
-Ensures that time is made available daily for training inmates by utilizing the Automotive Society of Excellence (ASE) Study Guides per the Fleet 100 program.
-Researches and encourages vendors to hold training classes within your shop
-Provides training to all inmates and new staff on all shop equipment and safety procedures
-Conducts at a minimum a weekly Huddle on shop operations to include weekly Out of Service reports with the graph (Matrix) and PM report
-Determines that all repair parts supplies and accessories needed are prepared and purchased through the procurement system. A follow-up should be done on a 24-hour basis until the parts supplies or accessories are received
-Conducts monthly Green Fleet inspections looking for any safety hazards
-Corrects all findings as soon as discovered and submits completed reports to Regional Equipment Manager
-Ensures all staff and inmates have proper protective equipment
-Confirms that all tools keys buildings and structures under your control are secured and accounted for before leaving for the day
-Drives on State business. Will require overnight or multiple overnight stays to complete repairs on equipment/vehicles/heavy-duty vehicles
-Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

-Walk/run .25 miles
-Use complex electronic analysis testers interpret the failure and complete proper repairs
-Read comprehend and apply manuals charts and schematics

-Organize and supervise an automotive/heavy equipment service and repair shop
-Schedule and coordinate repair orders to maximize utilization
-Develop day-to-day operating policies and procedures
-Perform equipment management-oriented record-keeping and report preparation
-Work in a prison environment
-Five (5) years of experience as a Maintenance Manager or Maintenance Supervisor for a large fleet of vehicles or multiple site locations requiring knowledge and application of OSHA Hazard (HAZ) Communication (COM)
-OSHA Lock Out Tag Out
-OSHA Fire Protection regulations as well as a Fleet Management Software System

Due to the need to repair heavy trucks and buses this position would require within the first six months from the hire date a minimum of a Class B CDL license with a P passenger endorsement.
Within the first year from the hire date this position requires the individual to obtain the Department of Transportation (DOT) Brake Inspector Certification and DOT Commercial Vehicle Inspector Certification.
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation drug test and possibly a medical/physical examination.
If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.11).
In an effort to maintain a safe environment all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
