NUCLEAR MED TECH - PRN - OPPORTUNITY AT THE NEW MILFORD HOSPITAL

Summary:
Utilizes radiopharmaceuticals and related instruments to measure the concentration in various organ systems for the diagnosis and treatment of specific pathological disorders.
This position mandates that this technologist be credentialed as a Nuclear Medicine addition this position will be split between Danbury Hospital Danbury Hospital Medical Arts Center (DHMAC) and New Milford Hospital.
Responsibilities:
2. Patient Care/Safety and Communication Criteria A: Screens patient for contraindications to exam checks for special instructions and correct examination. Patient Care/Safety and Communication Criteria B: Pleasantly greets patients introduces self to patient and properly identifies patient. Patient Care/Safety and Communication Criteria C: Explains procedure to patient. Patient Care/Safety and Communication Criteria D: Properly monitors patient throughout procedure and provide efficient compassionate patient care.
3. Performs daily QC of all equipment and reports negative findings to supervisor or RSO. Completes daily weekly quarterly and yearly equipment QA and QC procedures. Notifies vendor of any equipment problems and notifies supervisor of service calls and repairs.
4. Radiopharmaceutical order receipt preparation administration and handling; Stock and Inventory Properly receives prepares and documents radiopharmaceutical information. Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies of drugs and radiopharmaceuticals. Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies; laundry; venipuncture supplies; tapes; etc.
5. Obtains and completes patient clinical history as it pertains to Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT exam. Completes allyï½s clerical records. Documents exam information record logs and completes patient dose log. Performs office procedures in absence of clerical support.
6. Attends staff meetings in-service programs and orients new staff on request. Maintains CPR RTN or CNMT Certification Maintains appropriate level of CE credits for ARRT and ACR Nuclear Medicine Certification
7. Aids in maintaining a clean and contamination-free department. Performs weekly wipe tests. Performs monthly Environmental Rounds.
8. Abides by all NRC DPH DEEP and TJC hospital and department rules and regulations Hospital Adheres to ALARA and radiation safety rules & regulations.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
10. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Other Information:
* Certified Nuclear Medicine Tech
* Experience in PET/CT scanning preferred
* Graduate of accredited Nuclear Medicine Program
Nuclear Medicine Registry Eligible.
