Under close supervision and according to detailed instructions the Retail Pharmacy Technician - Certified accurately processes orders and delivers medications for to designated areas; refills and maintains automated dispensing machines; prices manual medication charges inventories and reorders stock in the pharmacy; enters data into a computer system and prints labels as necessary; reviews physicians orders and enters patient medication orders into the pharmacy order entry system; identifies problems with orders and notifies pharmacist or nursing when orders need clarification or to request patient information (i.e. allergies height weight) when needed.Certified Retail Pharmacy Technician

Education
Required -High School diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
Preferred-1 year hospital experience
Certifications
Required -1 year of college or completion of a para-professional pharmacy training program or Certified Pharmacy Technician Licensure or National Certification
Preferred - Certified Pharmacy Technician License
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
- Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
- Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
- Skills to operate standard pharmacy and office equipment
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
Job Duties
- Ensures customer service and teamwork while conducting responsibilities .
- Fills medication orders charges/credits all medication stocks delivers and inspects assigned areas.
- Performs bedside delivery of medication.
- Maintains competency in professional growth and responsibilities.
- Adapts behavior to the specific patient population including but not limited to: respect for privacy method of introduction to the patient adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed requesting permissions and communication style.
- Other related duties as required.
