We are searching for a candidate that is independent and passionate about finding new treatments for childhood cancer. Experience in animal xenografting transcriptomic profiling and cell culture are desirable. Additional experience in computational biology 3D cell models and single-cell sequencing would be highly competitive. Candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills be open to developing new and cutting-edge methods and be highly motivated.
What Youll Do
Lead a multidisciplinary team centered on the study of childhood sarcoma particularly with a focus on using paired in vivo/in vitro models of metastatic sarcoma. Specifically the candidate will be expected to:
Coordinate multiple aspects of research projects and carry out laboratory experiments independently utilizing various laboratory techniques and determine whether additional or other tools or methods are required.
Troubleshoot experiments independently and provide input regarding research protocols and experiments.
Set up protocols and assist in developing new laboratory techniques as required.
Identify experimental data pertinent to the analysis problem. Process organize and summarize data reporting these experimental results as required.
Monitor quality and integrity of recorded information and data
May draft sections of research manuscripts posters and funding applications.
Provide basic lab operation support to include equipment maintenance and purchasing.
Monitor inventory levels and orders lab supplies as needed.
Perform calibration of instruments and equipment.
Troubleshoot instrument performance and equipment issues.
Instruct and educate other staff in basic laboratory techniques and procedures.
To oversee the labs mouse colony within the state-of-the-art Animal Resources Center and to help maintain the labs Animal Care protocol;
Maintains regular and predictable attendance
Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals of the department and institution.
What Were Looking For
Strong expertise in in vivo xenografting transcriptomics and molecular biology techniques.
Additional skills in computational biology single-cell sequencing or 3D cancer models are highly competitive.
Proven ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative team science environment.
Excellent communication organizational and problem-solving skills.
Passion for innovative cancer research and commitment to developing new therapies for pediatric patients.
Minimum Education and/or Training:
The candidate should have a bachelors degree in cancer biology cell biology or related fields.
A PhD and/or experience in industry are highly preferred.
Minimum Experience:
Eight (8) years of relevant work experience is required
Six (6) years of relevant work experience is required with a Masters degree
Three (3) years of relevant work experience is required with a PhD
