Job Description Summary:

The Faculty Clinical Track emphasizes professional service in clinical settings. This role will serve as attending on the adult inpatient unit for part of the year in addition to coverage for the other KU inpatient services and outpatient clinic.

Job Duties Outlined:

Clinical Services - 0.87 FTE

  • Supervise instruct and evaluate psychiatry residents and medical students assigned to the adult inpatient clinical service for partial year
  • Provide coverage on KU inpatient services to supervise instruct and evaluate psychiatry residents and medical students
  • Specialty clinics may be developed with the approval of the Chair
  • Participate in weekend and holiday call rotation
  • Accurate and timely completion of electronic medical record entries for each patient encounter.
  • Actively collaborate in clinical productivity and initiatives designed to meet RVU and financial benchmarks
  • Participate in coverage for other faculty as needed and according to availability

Research & Scholarship - 0.02 FTE

  • Department will support the development of a research program in their area(s) of interest potentially in collaboration with the KUMC-W Center for Clinical Research
  • Research & Scholarship endeavors in support of P&T with approval from the Chair

Teaching & Education -0.01 FTE

  • Supervise instruct and evaluate psychiatry residents and medical students on assigned educational clinical rotation(s) in accordance with department policies
  • Prepare and present formal lectures for psychiatry residents psychology trainees and medical students as required by the department
  • Prepare and update the educational goals and expectations of assigned educational clinical rotation(s)
  • Engage in education committees as assigned
  • Complete GME time studies as required.

    Required Qualifications:

    Education:

    • MD or DO degree
    • Board eligible or certified in Psychiatry
    • Eligible or licensed to practice medicine in the State of Kansas
    • Current DEA certificate
    • Eligible for hospital privileges at Ascension Via Christi
    • Good standing with the State Board of Healing Arts

    This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements institutional standards of academic and professional excellence alignment with peer institution benchmarks and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Work Experience:

    • Clinical psychiatric experience in an academic setting
    • Teaching medical students and residents
    • Clinical experience post residency training
