Job Overview
The Division of Career Technical and Adult Education (CTAE) relies on authentic rigorous and student centered teaching and learning experiences that embed content and competencies in work-based learning. The Resource Teacher Work-Based Learning will work with the CTAE office schools and community members to provide career development and work-based learning opportunities to students. The resource teacher will also support CTE teachers/career center assistants by providing curricular resources professional development and technical support for career development and work-based learning. The resource teacher will work with Department of Teaching and Learning staff CTAE staff and school based staff to provide support and resources that deepen students knowledge and move students towards the LCPS Profile of a Graduate.
Roles and Responsibilities
The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.
- Creates and organizes all experiential learning opportunities (job shadowing job placement internship mentorship apprenticeship volunteerism and service learning) for students in their respective geographic region.
- Initiates and maintains contact with business partners prospective employers and partner agencies.
- Develops and maintains required procedures forms and operational records and guides students in their preparation to seek internships and apprenticeship opportunities.
- Supports the integration of content into the curriculum and across the elementary middle and high school curriculum.
- Develops community members knowledge in workforce development partnerships by offering ongoing and sustained professional learning experiences.
- Conducts regular information sessions to inform business partners parents and students of potential extended learning opportunities.
- Monitors students on internships and job-sites to provide meaningful feedback on being career ready.
- Provides a robust coaching experience for students seeking out their first workplace experience.
- Assists counselors and career center staff with career education activities such as career fairs and other school events.
- Supports county-wide events (e.g. LCPS Workforce Summit Job-For-A Day) within the CTAE Division.
Qualifications
Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.
EducationBachelors Degree
Experience
Three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience in Career and Technical Education or a workforce development related classroom
Licenses and Certifications
Holds or is eligible for a Virginia Collegiate Professional License with an endorsement in an area of CTE preferred
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of current research and best practices in the field of Career and Technology Education
