The Opportunity:

Are you passionate about helping students succeed academically and professionally As an Academic and Career Advisor/Counselor within the Academic Success and Career Center youll play a key role in guiding students through their educational journey and career development. Youll work directly with students to help them set meaningful academic and career goals assess their individual strengths and make informed decisions to meet academic requirements. Youll also support students in exploring career paths through training assessments and one-on-one this role youll administer and interpret career assessments lead engaging workshops and presentations monitor academic progress and even teach a career-related courseempowering students to thrive both in school and beyond.

Additional Information:

This is a full time (100% FTE) permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $3750.85 - $4574.20 Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidates current experience education skills and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Masters degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a yearforyear basis.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of career development theories advising practices and student development models.

  • Experience facilitating workshops presentations or classroom instruction.

  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency with career and advising technologies (e.g. HandshakeEABNavigate PeopleSoft or similar platforms).

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and foster inclusive advising practices.

  • Willingness and ability to work some evening and weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in higher education counseling student affairs or a related discipline.

  • Experience in a blended academic and career advising role.

  • Experience teaching career development or student success courses at the college level.

  • Certification or formal training in career assessment tools (e.g. MBTI Strong Interest Inventory CliftonStrengths).

  • Experience designing and delivering professional development programs for faculty staff or campus stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with labor market data employer engagement strategies and experiential learning models.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategic initiatives that integrate academic advising with career readiness.

  • Active involvement in professional organizations such as NACADA NACE or NCDA.
