Job Description

The Global Delivery Services (GDS) firms are various service delivery centers from which EY Client Service and Enablement Services teams operate to deliver strategic support to EY member firms. GDS spans all geographies practices service lines sectors and competencies within EY to deliver deeply integrated services that result in efficient and world-class solutions.

The opportunity

Our GDS business is seeking an experienced lawyer to be the GDS Global Counsel for GDS Operations with particular focus on our Latin American and Spanish-speaking locations. The GDS Global Counsel will advise on employment law matters while also assisting in corporate as well as commercial contract matters for EY GDS entities across all GDS locations as part of their role in the GDS Legal Team.

The GDS Legal Team is part of the Global General Counsels Office (GCO) team and is responsible for all legal support to the GDS business.

As the GDS Global Counsel you will be part of the EY GDS GCO and will be responsible for advising stakeholders primarily on employment law with added responsibilities to support corporate matters and commercial contracts. Whilst the role is based in either Buenos Aires the role will involve working with GDS centres in Poland India Argentina Philippines UK Spain Mexico Sri Lanka and other upcoming GDS locations as well as with other EY locations across the world. However the role is intended to focus primarily on our locations in Mexico and Argentina during the initial period. You will be working closely with other members of the GDS Legal Team Global GCO Team as well as business stakeholders in all GDS locations.

Your key responsibilities

Working closely with business teams and GDS Talent Finance Location Leaders and other teams to provide legal advice on a variety of matters including:

  • Employment Matters:
  • Support the GDS Lead Employment Counsel and HR/Talent teams in formulating reviewing and revising internal regulations.
  • Advice on day-to-day queries on HR matters.
  • Support investigations with a sound demonstration of a global perspective.
  • Assist with mobility and immigration matters.
  • Support matters before regulatory authorities and courts while also coordinating with external counsels.
  • Providing corporate secretarial support (including preparing necessary corporate and other approvals) and support on regulatory compliance matters including reporting requirements and oversight of work performed by the GCOs entity management team.
  • Drafting reviewing and negotiating various contracts and other documentation with third parties.
  • Contributing to internal guidance best practices and templates.
  • Actively collaborating and positively teaming with fellow members of the Global TPG team a highly collaborative team of lawyers who support and advise across EY as well as with other GCO teams and internal functions.

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Degree in law and qualified to provide legal advice in Argentina.
  • Mandatory fluent languages: Spanish and English.
  • At least 7 years post-qualification experience in advising on employment law and providing legal advice in a generalist profile as well.
  • Ability to provide practical legal advice and support with a high degree of professionalism in a fast-paced environment and to establish a high degree of credibility respect and trust at all levels.

Ideally youll also have

  • Prior experience of working in an In-house Legal Department supporting employment law matters and labor compliances.
  • Prior experience of dealing with labor and employment litigation would be an advantage.
  • Exposure to a global working environment supporting multiple jurisdictions.
  • High degree of cultural awareness.
  • Experience with working with a wide variety of stakeholders with limited supervision.
