WHAT YOULL DO:
Project management/resident engineer responsibilities for the Divisions more complex assignments including vertical construction city building upgrades park improvements street paving and other public right-of-way engineering projects
Coordination with the Traffic Engineering (TE) division to streamline the development and approval of traffic control plans for projects within the public right-of-way
Development and management of the future Oxnard ADA Transition Plan for the public right-of-way
Working with stakeholders to develop capital project scopes of work; production of engineering and architectural design plans and specifications for assigned projects using both in-house and contracted resources
Participate in Neighborhood Council and other stakeholder meetings
Perform other civil engineering-related duties as assigned

SUPERVISION EXERCISED/ SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Direction is provided by the Senior Civil Engineer or Supervising Civil Engineer. Incumbents in this class exercise technical and functional supervision over lower level engineering technical and support staff.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The Civil Engineer is the class responsible for assuring that private and public development meets with applicable Federal State and City requirements and codes. This position is distinguished from the next higher level class of Senior Civil Engineer by the latter positions full management and supervisory responsibilities.

NOTE:For most positions the City of Oxnard relies on office automation (Microsoft Office/Google) and web-based enabled tools therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
Regular and reliable attendance effective communication skills and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all positions.
Employees are required to participate in the Citys direct deposit plan and are paid on a bi-weekly basis.
This position requires a 12-month probationary period.
