Description

As a Digital Imaging and Reconstruction Officer youll attend Crime Scenes produce 3D Reconstructions and create Informative Graphics to aid in Courtroom Understanding of complex evidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Crime Scene Attendance for 3D Reconstruction/360 Video Capture
  • Create Bodymapping graphics sanitisation of injuries sustained during an incident
  • Create 2D Graphics depicting Floor Plans Routes Taken and showing Key Information
  • Create Video Enhancements of Video/CCTV Evidence
  • Create Comparison Reports processing Video Forensically to highlight features of interest
  • Create EFIT Images depicting a digital face of a potential offender
  • Manage forensic exhibits to ensure continuity confidentiality and security is maintained at all times; with the use of Police systems
  • Ensure compliance with Force and departmental policies and procedures including developing and maintaining the roles Quality Management System requirements
  • Maintain accurate records for all cases worked on ensuring that all relevant information is entered in a timely and accurate manner. Produce Witness Statements and attend court to give evidence as required
  • To carry out any duties commensurate with the purpose of the post that may from time to time be determined

Essential Criteria

  • Experience within a Forensic discipline and/or relevant education discipline
  • Experience in or an understanding of one or more of: 2D/3D modelling 2D/3D Reconstruction Bodymapping Courtroom Presentation of Evidence Packages Video Enhancement EFIT Comparison or Graphical Design
  • Understanding of the use of laser scanners within a crime scene environment
  • Understanding of image sterilisation process for Bodymapping processes
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team;
  • Possess good communication skills (both verbal and written);
  • Be enthusiastic hardworking and flexible;
  • Experience in using software to process and edit footage
  • A passion for developing technologies used in imagery devices.
  • Proven technical expertise/experience in the use of computer software and hardware
  • Be conversant with the ISO 17025 standard and Forensic Science Regulator Code of Practice
  • Be able to work with material that may be of an obscene offensive or distressing nature. Treat such material in the appropriate manner ensuring it is secured and handled according to defined policies
  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence

Desirable Criteria

  • LEVA Certification
  • Have a strong awareness of identification methods such as human visual recognition and automated facial recognition
  • Have knowledge of image processing analysis comparison and evaluation/enhancement of images/videos
  • Be current in knowledge of 3D/2D methods of presenting evidence Image/Video Enhancement Comparison Image sterilisation and EFIT
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
  • Investigative awareness

Special Conditions

  • Must be prepared to handle/view/overhear material that may be offensive or distressing.
  • Post holder may be required from time ti time to work outside of office hours at weekends or bank holidays including a small amount of on-calls for Bank Holidays during the year.

Vetting:Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Counter Terrorism Clearancescrutiny prior to commencing their role this will include a full background & financial disclosure as part of the vetting process.

Medical: Appointment to this role will be dependent upon successfully medical checks which may include a drugs test and if required a fitness test

Hours:Monday to Friday covering shifts of 0700x1830 and 1 Weekend in 4 covering 0800x1630

Allowances: 5.41% Weekend Allowance
