The IELTS USA Examiner is responsible for assessing the IELTS Speaking module including second marking when necessary ensuring adherence to the standards set by the IELTS Professional Support Network (PSN) and IELTS USA and supporting other IELTS operations related to examining as needed. IELTS Examiners must maintain their certification in the speaking module. If the successful candidate is not already certified as an IELTS examiner they will need to meet the PSN Minimum Professional Requirements and obtain certification in the Speaking module. This position will work approximately 7-12 hours per month as needed for testing days. Appointments will be part-time (less than 50%) and will depend on the needs of the department and are subject to budgetary approval. Therefore this posting does not necessarily reflect a current open position. The ESL Academy will contact you if there is an opening that suits your qualifications.
IELTS USA Examiner
What you will do:
- Conduct International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Speaking tests.
- When required marking speaking exams for a second time
- Adhere to the IELTS Professional Support Network and the IELTS USA policies and procedures.
- Participate in Examiner meetings and other relevant meetings and *training as required.
Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelors Degree
- A recognized qualification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) or recognized equivalent as part of a recognized university award course.
- IELTS Speaking Examiner Certification
- At least 3 years full time (or the equivalent part time) relevant TESOL teaching experience. Most of this teaching experience must relate to adult students (16 years and over).
Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)
- Masters Degree in TESOL ESL Linguistics or English
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to prioritize deadlines.
- Ability to complete tasks accurately and in sufficient detail.
- Ability to multi-task prioritize and manage time effectively.
- Strong customer service skills including experience providing customer service to multi-lingual speakers.
- Knowledge on maintaining testing schedule policies and procedures of third-party testing companies provide timely communication throughout the organization and external partners and communities.
- Ability to maintain the reputation and integrity of the IELTS test IELTS USA and CU Denver ESL Academy
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with instructional faculty and staff.
- Ability to maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
Conditions of Employment
- This position may require working weekends.
- This position must maintain their certification in the speaking module.
Mental Physical and/or Environmental Requirements
- The ability to sit for extended periods stand and walk occasionally reach with hands and arms use hands to manipulate a keyboard and mouse and have good near vision for computer work;often requiring minimal lifting but may involve bending or reaching to retrieve items from shelves or drawers.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $54/hour.
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity experience education specialty and training.
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is eligible for overtime compensation.
