What Youll Do
As an Accounts Control Loss Prevention Specialist I youll help members navigate challenging financial situations while protecting the credit union from loss. This role is all about problem-solving with empathy: youll connect with members whose accounts or loans have fallen behind identify the reason for delinquency and work together toward a solution that helps bring accounts current.
From phone calls to in-person conversations youll use effective communication diplomacy and creativity to find lasting solutions whether thats a loan modification a partial payment plan or connecting members with financial counseling every interaction youll maintain OURCUs professional positive image and commitment to serving members with respect and care.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow up on negative accounts and delinquent loans via phone email mail and in-person contact to secure resolution
- De-escalate tense or sensitive situations with empathy professionalism and tact keeping member relationships strong
- Clarify and verify information before proceeding ensuring solutions are fair accurate and sustainable
- Apply a variety of collection methods such as consolidations extensions workout loans and repossessions where appropriate
- Prepare clear and thorough recommendations for charge-offs extensions and settlements
- Manage assignment of charged-off accounts to collection agencies and act on notifications of impounded vehicles
- Keep complete accurate and up-to-date electronic documentation of all collection activities
- Prioritize multiple accounts and tasks effectively to maximize collection outcomes
- Collaborate with team members and management keeping leadership informed of progress and significant issues
- Stay informed of changes in collection policies procedures and related legal requirements
- Support OURCU operations by cross-selling services when appropriate and always in alignment with our Mission and Core Values
What Were Looking For
Were seeking someone who is empathetic resourceful and detail-oriented with impeccable people skills the ability to read people well strong communication skills and the ability to stay calm and professional in stressful situations. If you enjoy helping others thinking creatively to solve problems and working as part of a supportive team youll thrive in this role.
Key Qualifications:
- 6 months to 2 years of similar or related experience preferred
- High school diploma or GED required
- Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to de-escalate tense situations with patience and professionalism
- Strong attention to detail accuracy and organizational skills
- Comfortable multitasking and prioritizing multiple accounts/situations
- Proficiency with computer applications and standard business equipment
- Bilingual skills a plus!

Compensation & Growth:
- The target starting pay for this position is $21.56 - $25.00 per hour dependent on relevant qualifications.
- The wider pay range allows room for growth through over time.
Location & Schedule
This is a full-time in-person position based at our Downtown Shelton Branch. The schedule is Monday through Friday during standard business hours.
