Grounds Worker

Job Description

Fort Worth Country Day is seeking a full-time Grounds Worker to be part of the Plant Operations department. Reporting to the Grounds Supervisor this is a full-time non-exempt hourly paid position typically working Monday through Friday 6 a.m. 2:30 p.m.

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Mowing edging and fertilizing lawns
  • Weeding and mulching landscape beds
  • Trimming small trees hedges and shrubs
  • Removing unwanted dead or damaged trees
  • Planting shrubs flowers and trees
  • Watering gardens lawns and landscapes
  • Monitoring and maintaining plant health
  • Ability to operate equipment to include a tractor
  • Communicate with fellow employees and supervisors
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to read write and follow written and oral instructions

Knowledge skills and abilities:

  • Ability to perform work independently without close supervision

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for the entire 8-hour shift
  • Ability to push pull bend reach and crouch
  • Must be able to lift carry and transfer items up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and work in elevated areas
  • Must be able to drive a golf cart on school grounds
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all climates and conditions
