Annual Salary Range (Teacher First Compensation Model):

  • Professional: $60000
  • Advanced: $70000
  • Exemplary: $80000
  • (Salary band determined through Kairos Teacher First Compensation performance framework.)
  • Plus a $3000 signing bonus.

Position Summary

The Middle School Math Teacher at Kairos Academies is a mission-driven educator who helps students master mathematics through engaging real-world and inquiry-based learning. This role combines deep content knowledge with the Kairos instructional modelempowering students to problem-solve think critically and build the confidence to take ownership of their learning.

Core Responsibilities

Instructional Excellence

  • Design and implement engaging standards-aligned lessons in foundational and pre-algebraic mathematics.
  • Use real-world applications manipulatives and technology to deepen conceptual understanding.
  • Integrate project-based and problem-based learning that promotes mathematical reasoning and collaboration.
  • Analyze data from MAP NWEA and internal assessments to drive differentiation and close achievement gaps.
  • Maintain accurate gradebooks and provide frequent actionable feedback on classwork and assessments.
  • Support students in building perseverance and mathematical discourse through discussion inquiry and reflection.

Student Relationships & Mentorship

  • Serve as a Kairos Coach mentoring a pod of students weekly to develop goal-setting self-management and reflection skills.
  • Create a positive inclusive classroom environment that encourages curiosity persistence and respect.
  • Communicate proactively with families about academic progress celebrations and growth areas.

Collaboration & Professional Growth

  • Collaborate with math and STEM team members to align curriculum pacing and assessment practices.
  • Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) coaching cycles and development sessions aligned to Kairos priorities.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback to strengthen math instruction and student engagement across grade levels.

  • Serve in a whole-school service role (e.g. Data Lead Tutoring Lead SEL Lead) that supports schoolwide academic and cultural goals.
  • Support restorative practices positive behavior systems and SEL frameworks.
  • Contribute to schoolwide events family engagement and community-building efforts.

Driver Goals ()

  • MAP Proficiency: 60% of students meet or exceed grade-level math proficiency benchmarks.
  • NWEA Growth: 70% of students demonstrate expected or above-expected growth.
  • Mentoring Participation: 75% of students meet coaching engagement and reflection benchmarks.
  • On-Track Gradient Learning Classes: 85% of students maintain on-track progress in math competency and mastery pacing.

Key Indicators of Success

  • Evidence of rigorous engaging instruction aligned to Missouri Learning Standards and Kairos Graduate Profile.
  • Consistent use of data to inform instruction reteaching and enrichment.
  • Classroom culture characterized by curiosity collaboration and student ownership of learning.
  • Growth in student confidence and problem-solving skills as measured by coaching data and student feedback.
  • Active contribution to team planning problem-solving and schoolwide improvement efforts.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Education Mathematics or a related field.
  • Valid Missouri Substitute Certification.
  • Demonstrated success improving student math achievement and engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal organizational and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Missouri Teaching Certificate (Mathematics 59) or eligibility to obtain upon hire.
  • Masters degree in Education Curriculum & Instruction or related field.
  • Experience with data-driven instruction project-based learning or competency-based education.
  • 3 years of middle school teaching experience with measurable student growth outcomes.

Work Schedule & Environment

  • MondayFriday 7:45 AM 4:00 PM.
  • Occasional evenings or weekends for family engagement tutoring or school events.
  • Dynamic fast-paced environment requiring adaptability and collaboration.
  • On-site role at Kairos Academies in St. Louis MO.
