Power BI Spec

Job Description:

Transform data into meaningful information by creating interactive dashboards dynamic reports and advanced visualizations that facilitate strategic tactical and operational decision making within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Business Intelligence Solutions Development
Design develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
Create efficient scalable and easy to maintain data models that support different types of analysis.
Use DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) to implement complex calculations measures calculated columns and KPIs.
Implement visual design best practices to ensure that reports are understandable and accessible to all levels of the organization.
Connect and transform data from multiple sources such as SQL Server Excel SharePoint web services REST APIs Azure among others.
Develop efficient ETL processes using Power Query (M) and other complementary tools.
Work collaboratively with IT and data management teams to ensure data quality integrity and security.
Implement data governance policies within the Power BI environment such as the use of workspaces access control row level security (RLS) and data classification.
Meet with key stakeholders to understand their information needs business objectives and specific requirements.
Translate functional and technical requirements into viable analytical solutions.
Provide strategic recommendations based on data analysis.
Monitor and maintain existing reports and dashboards to ensure they reflect current data and function properly.
Provide support to end users answer technical and functional questions about reports.
Manage data updates scheduling of automatic refreshes and validation of information presented.
Train key users and business analysts in the use of Power BI.
Develop technical documentation and user manuals to ensure institutional knowledge.
Research and adopt new features upgrades and best practices of Power BI and associated technologies.

Technical Knowledge Required:

Advanced proficiency in Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service.
In-depth knowledge of DAX language for the creation of complex measures and KPIs.
Ability to use Power Query (M language) for data transformation.
Experience in data modeling (tabular and relational) normalization and optimization of models for analysis.
Connecting and extracting data from multiple sources (SQL Excel Azure REST APIs etc.).
Knowledge of data governance principles row level security (RLS) and user administration.
Familiarity with complementary analytics tools such as Excel SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) Azure Data Factory Dataflows among others.
Understanding of ETL and data integration processes.

Academic Requirements

University degree in Systems Engineering Computer Science Mathematics Statistics Economics Management or related careers.
