Job Summary

Are you a passionate and knowledgeable leader in equity and inclusion The City of Edmonton is seeking a Corporate Equity Specialist to help advance a truly inclusive this role you will be a subject matter expert responsible for developing and implementing programs that support the citys Art of Inclusion Framework. Your work will directly impact our corporate culture and our ability to become a modern municipal corporation. This is more than a job; its an opportunity to drive meaningful organizational change and ensure that our systems and practices advance equity for everyone

What will you do

  • Advise on and implement equity-related programs and initiatives

  • Act as a subject matter expert on equity measures and intersectionality including matters of gender race and age

  • Collaborate with internal partners to advance the Art of Inclusion Framework Action Plan

  • Provide consultation advice and coaching on strategic and operational equity and inclusion matters to all levels of staff from frontline to senior leaders

  • Support the development and ongoing governance of employee resource networks

  • Contribute to workforce equity analysis monitor data and develop and review reports with disaggregated analysis and recommendations

  • Develop and maintain relationships internally and externally to advance knowledge and position the City as a leader in equity and inclusion

  • A university degree in Social Sciences Gender Studies Human Resources Adult Education or a related discipline

  • A minimum of five years of experience in equity diversity & inclusion especially within a large organization

  • Experience and comfort in designing and facilitating learning sessions and/or public speaking is a requirement

  • Demonstrated expertise in the intersectionality of various forms of power and oppression in the workplace and society

  • Lived experience and/or a direct working understanding of the values and experiences of diverse and marginalized communities

Assets:

  • A graduate degree in a related field

  • Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional (CCIP) certification

  • Demonstrated expertise in anti-racism and implicit bias

  • Experience in consulting developing and implementing strategies for organizational and operational change

  • Experience with equity data analysis such as demographic analysis

  • Demonstrated success leading a project with collaborators from different departments

  • Familiarity with GBA (Gender-Based Analysis Plus) and/or other inclusion lens/tools

Skills required for success:

  • A strong ability and willingness to develop positive trusting relationships and work in a collaborative integrated team environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including report writing and presenting

  • The ability to maintain trust and credibility through discrete use of sensitive and confidential information

  • Proven personal leadership in diversity and inclusion by actively demonstrating supportive values and behaviors

  • Knowledge of federal and provincial human rights and employment policy and legislation.

  • Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies ( a culture of equity diversity reconciliation and inclusion

Conditions of Employment:

  • Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and there may be a cost associated with this requirement

  • Applicants may be tested

Work Environment:

  • Note: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.

  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

  • This role works primarily in an indoor setting

  • Availability to attend events during the evenings and weekends may be required from time to time

  • This requires engagement and interaction with diverse people from various backgrounds with different needs expectations and emotional states

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week

Salary Range: $47.353 - $59.833 (Hourly); $98873.06 - $124931.30 (Annually)
