Summary:
Vighter is recruiting experienced Nurse Practitioners (NPs) to provide onsite medical support services for the U.S. Navy Recruiting Commands Accession Waiver Division in Millington TN. This role involves assessment diagnosis and coordination of enlistment or service waivers for all enlisted direct accession officer and certain officer scholarship applicants whose medical examinations reveal conditions potentially disqualifying under Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 6130.03. The care would be given in Millington TN and the standard of care shall be of a quality meeting or exceeding all recognized national standards.


Principle Accountabilities:
Accession of applicants for enlistment or commissioning;
Entry or retention in Special Duty designators or Navy Enlisted Classifications (NECs);
Other medical qualification reviews as assigned.
Participate in department quality assurance peer review and continuing medical education.
Case volume will vary based on recruiting mission requirements. The contractor shall provide sufficient flexibility to meet surges in workload.

Workload may include but is not limited to:
Navy enlistment waivers;
Navy commissioning waivers;
Special Duty assignment reviews;
Reconsideration and appeal case reviews;
Quality assurance and inter rater reliability reviews.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have exceptional customer service skills.
  • Employees shall be technically proficient in the skills necessary to fulfill the job requirements including ability to speak understand read and write English fluently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment with limited supervision
  • Excellent organizational scheduling and prioritization skills.

Education:
Valid license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
Currently certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification must be kept up to date at all times.

Qualifications:

A Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant assigned by the Contractor to perform the services covered by this contract shall have a current license to practice medicine consistent with his or her training and professional designation in any State Territory or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property.
Physician Assistants must have a license in the same state as the supervising physician. All licenses held by the personnel working on this contract shall be full and unrestricted licenses.
The contractors Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants who have current full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states but who have or who have ever had a license restricted suspended revoked voluntarily revoked voluntarily surrendered pending action or denied upon application will not be considered for the purposes of this contract.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols and procedures.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Duty Hours / On-call Requirements:
The expected duty hours for this position are 8 hours per day and 5 days per week. H

  • As required to satisfy the contractual obligations. Commute is non-compensatory. All official travel is government funded.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit or stand for more than 8 hours per day must be willing to work overtime if necessary.
  • Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet.
  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects use finger dexterity bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.
  • Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment
  • Must undergo Urine Drug Screening (UDS).
