Job Summary:

Are you passionate about student development and building meaningful community-focused programs PLNU is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Associate Director of First Year Experience to champion the transition of first year and transfer students through impactful peer-led programming and initiatives. This individual will provide consistent dependable and professional in-person administrative and student-facing support.

Salary:
Pay range $ 68640 - $70013
Actual salary offered is determined by the candidates experience education skills and other factors including internal equity and university funding resources.

Job Description:

What Were Looking For:

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a diverse population both within and outside the University.

  • Demonstrate an ability to relate motivate and connect with college students.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students faculty and staff.

  • Demonstrated conflict management and dispute resolution competencies.

  • Understanding and appreciation of a Christian liberal arts education.

  • Competence in developing and managing budgets including maintenance of appropriate departmental correspondence and reports.

  • Strong skills in areas of prioritizing strategic planning working in a fast-paced environment and meeting deadlines in spite of frequent interruptions and change of focus.

What Youll Be Doing:

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders in first year student engagement including but not limited to: Residential Life Admissions Student Life & Formation staff Faculty members

  • Direct all aspects of engagement program for First Year Student Alpha Groups (a first-year peer mentoring program):

    • Curriculum development Recruitment selection & training of student leaders

    • Coordinate communication and materials for weekly Alpha Group meetings and events.

    • Monitor group dynamics student engagement and overall program effectiveness through regular feedback and assessment of learning outcomes/program objectives.

    • Consistent communication with student participants and leaders;

  • Oversee transfer student programming - including but not limited to oversight of TAG (Transfer Activities Group):

    • Oversee TAG programming to support the successful transition engagement and belonging of transfer students.

    • Select and train TAG leaders and collaborate on events tailored to transfer student needs and schedules.

    • Work closely with the Resident Director of the Transfer Student Residence Hall and Director of Discipleship Programs to collaborate on ways to support transfer students.

  • Assist in programmatic and logistical planning of Welcome Week (Orientation) for fall semester and New Student Orientation in Spring semester and any associated programming for first year student populations including transfer students

    • Help to manage logistics schedules supplies and volunteer coordination for key Welcome Week events (e.g. Move-In Day small group time community-building activities etc.)

    • Ensure programming is intentional and inclusive for all first year student populations including LomaFirst EAC students Student-Athletes etc.

    • Support in the development and implementation of Welcome Week programming for all incoming first year students:

    • Consistent communication with all involved constituencies (PLNU departments administration students community)

  • Support the management of the First Year Experience portion of the Student Experience budget.

  • Contribute to ongoing efforts and programs within Student Experience and the greater Student Life & Formation office by helping with tasks responsibilities etc.
