Our client in the Mobile sector is seeking a Packet Core Operations Engineer on a contract duration of 12 months
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and technically adept Packet Core Operations Engineer to manage monitor and optimize the performance of our mobile core network infrastructure. This role is critical to ensuring high availability reliability and service quality across 3G 4G and 5G packet core domains. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments demonstrates strong troubleshooting capabilities and collaborates effectively across teams to resolve complex network issues.

The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments demonstrates strong troubleshooting capabilities and collaborates effectively across teams to resolve complex network issues.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Telecommunications Computer Science or related field
- 35 years of hands-on experience in packet core operations within telecom environments
- Strong understanding of 3GPP standards and mobile core protocols (GTP Diameter SCTP IPsec)
- Proficiency in network monitoring tools (e.g. Wireshark NetAct U2000 SolarWinds)
- Experience with virtualization platforms (NFV VMware OpenStack) and containerized environments
- Familiarity with incident management frameworks (e.g. ITIL ServiceNow)
- Solid troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure
- Effective communication and documentation abilities
- Vendor certifications (e.g. Nokia Ericsson Huawei Cisco) in packet core technologies
- Exposure to 5G SA/NSA operations and cloud-native core components
- Experience with automation and scripting (Python Shell Ansible)
- Knowledge of lawful interception and regulatory compliance processes
