The University of Iowa Health Care department of Food & Nutrition is seeking a Adult Lead Clinical Dietitian. The Lead Clinical Dietitian is under the direction of the Assistant Director Clinical in the Department of Food and Nutrition Services at UI Health Care. This position is responsible for supporting the Assistant Director in supervision hiring training compliances and serves as a point of reference for Clinical Dietitian I/II. Demonstrates a high level of leadership and accountability for standards of practice. Displays an advanced level of nutritional competency rooted in evidence-based principles. The lead clinical dietitian collaborates with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care. Provides clinical care necessary to meet patient care requirements.
Serve as primary liaison between clinical dietitian staff and Assistant Director
Provide leadership coordination direction and administration to employees as needed; provides continuous feedback on performance and applies appropriate development tools to promote individual growth
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication problem solving and conflict resolution
Manage and organize staff education
Maintain effective working relationships with faculty staff students and the public
Assist in recruitment hiring and onboarding of new RDs
Lead training for new hires and ongoing competencies for current RDs
Identify areas of improvement in Clinical Nutrition Services and implement solutions to maintain efficient operations
Monitor and manage unit budget to meet goals
Ensure staff competency in evidence-based practice and delivery of excellent patient care
Collaborate with Master of Clinical Nutrition Director for preceptor training
Responsible for staff compliance of all policies and procedures applicable to healthcare agencies to include The Joint Commission
Partner with Assistant Director to complete annual performance reviews for clinical nutrition staff

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
Minimum of 5 years clinical nutrition experience required
Demonstrated competency of patient care in pediatric adult and geriatric populations across a wide range of medical conditions in the inpatient and outpatient setting required
Experience working in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) required
Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required
Licensure by the State of Iowa is required
