Role Overview:
The Senior Manager - Food Systems Transformation manages the implementation of a portfolio of food systems projects. S/he coordinates cross-program collaboration by engaging project leads to identify adapt and scale high-impact tools insights and approaches. The Senior Manager also monitors emerging trends technologies and policy shifts in the food processing sector advising leadership on opportunities for growth and positioning across Africa and global markets.
Key Responsibilities :
Project Leadership
- MedAccess VG
- Lead implementation of the Vitamin A Volume Guarantee (VG) project a multi-country initiative with MedAccess and DSM to stabilize vitamin A pricing and supply for edible oil fortification.
- Oversee a $300K data-generation initiative integrating market intelligence processor insights and compliance trends to inform VG deployment and partner strategy.
- Ensure alignment with IGNITE and M4N programs leveraging compliance data and policy engagement to enhance VG impact.
- Represent TNS in Director-level forums shaping implementation strategy through high-level engagement with MedAccess DSM and donor partners.
- Coordinate issue response and market risk monitoring using real-time insights to guide resolution of supply disruptions and regulatory shifts.
- Drive knowledge sharing and ecosystem learning synthesizing cross-country insights to strengthen fortification systems and inform global application
- IGNITE
- Drive strategic positioning and implementation of Micronutrient Fortification Index and Kenya Millers Fortification Index (MFI/KMFI) as industry-owned governance and recognition platforms engaging policymakers associations and donors to expand adoption into new geographies and across value chain actors to enhance overall utility.
- Lead co-design rollout and effectiveness evaluation of e-learning modules with partners aligning with processor needs; lead organizational alignment efforts with the Chief Transformation Officer and Director of Digital Labs to integrate digital delivery and assess sustainable commercial models.
- Oversee enhancements and scaling of the AI - Knowledge Hub as a core technical assistance tool embedding diagnostics and tailored learning pathways across Food Processing programs.
- Manage research partnerships and guide development of high-impact learning productsincluding case studies policy briefs and publicationsthat elevate TNS visibility as a systems leader.
- Oversee transition of operational leadership ensuring continuity in reporting compliance and execution while building internal capacity to sustain IGNITEs institutional value and learning legacy.
- FCI4Africa
- Lead TNS role in the FCI4Africa program designing and deploying digital innovations to strengthen traceability elevate food quality and embed ESG frameworks.
- Collaborate with research institutions industry associations and consortium partners to promote evidence-based decision-making continuous program improvement and incentive mechanisms for actors across targeted value chains.
Cross-Program Integration & Innovation
- Support development of new donor proposals and FP-wide strategies ensuring alignment with market dynamics sustainability priorities and institutional visibility goals.
- Monitor and analyze emerging trends technologies and policy shifts to inform strategic decision-making and advise FP leadership on opportunities for growth and positioning across Africa and global markets.
- Coordinate cross-program collaboration by engaging project leads to identify adapt and scale high-impact tools insights and approaches that add value across the FP portfolio.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in international development plus a Masters degree or a Bachelors Degree plus 10 years of experience.
- Extensive experience leading implementing and monitoring Large Scale Food Fortification projects
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Analytical writing social and management skills required for delivering technical assistance to development programs or initiatives.
- Ability to work both persuasively and diplomatically in a team-based environment with a high degree of complexity and ambiguity.
- Ability to communicate complex issues with clarity precision and prioritization is a must.
- Strong capacity building skills including participatory facilitation techniques coaching and mentoring
