Company Overview

Kline Hill Partners (Kline Hill) invests in private equity funds private equity-backed companies and other opportunistic transactions primarily by providing liquidity to existing investors via transaction sizes substantially smaller than are typical in the private equity secondary market. Kline Hill seeks to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns by focusing on what it considers to be the least efficient segments of the secondary market to build a broadly diversified portfolio of assets acquired at discounts to their intrinsic value. Kline Hill believes there is a substantial annual volume of these small-deal secondary transactions that is underserved by both large and small secondary funds.
With over $5.4B in assets under management our funds are backed by a blue-chip investor base that includes endowments foundations family offices and other institutional investors. Since our founding we have completed more than 625 transactions transferring over 2950 fund and direct company interests along the way. Together our Core and Solutions strategies make up a platform designed to serve the entirety of the small deal secondary market with capabilities spanning LP fund transfers GP led transactions and secondary direct transactions.
The firm has over 56 employees and maintains offices in Greenwich CT (United States) Zurich (Switzerland) and Manila (Philippines).

Introduction to GP-led Investments

GP-led transactions typically refer to the sale of one or multiple assets from a mature fund to a new vehicle (the Continuation Vehicle or CV) that the existing General Partner (the GP or Sponsor) continues to manage. Such transactions allow GPs to further maximize the value of selected assets by providing them with additional time beyond the term of the fund and often additional capital. At the same time GP-leds offer Limited Partners (LPs) invested in a GPs legacy fund the opportunity to either receive liquidity when the asset is sold to the CV or transfer their stake to the new vehicle. Secondary investors like KHP step in due diligence and price the asset(s) and provide the necessary capital to fund the transaction. A GP-led due diligence looks at the asset(s) and its market(s) in great depth similar to a direct investment due diligence.
