About the Role:

The Senior Auditor Internal Audit plays a critical role in executing and enhancing the internal audit function. Reporting to and supporting the Senior Manager Internal Audit this position is responsible for planning and conducting operational audits and advisory engagements that evaluate internal controls compliance and process efficiency. This role contributes to departmental development continuous improvement initiatives and mentoring of junior audit staff. The Senior Auditor Internal Audit ensures audit programs remain agile and responsive to emerging risks while fostering strong relationships across the organization.

What You Get to Do:

Audit and Advisory Engagements

  • Plan and execute a range of audits and advisory engagements to assess control adequacy policy compliance and regulatory alignment
  • Lead all phases of audit engagements including:
    • Risk assessment and audit program development
    • Fieldwork execution (testing interviews walkthroughs)
    • Reporting (findings recommendations audit report writing)
    • File close-out and documentation
  • Communicate effectively with auditee management throughout the audit lifecycle
  • Present audit results to senior management and support follow-up to ensure completeness of Management Action Plans (MAPS) testing of action plans to ensure continuous improvement

Department Contributions

  • Assist in developing and refining departmental policies and procedures
  • Promote continuous improvement through peer reviews training material development and participation in lessons-learned sessions
  • Support the preparation of the annual Internal Audit Plan
  • Serve as a liaison between Internal Audit and key organizational stakeholders

Development and Leadership

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to junior audit team members
  • Deliver training and guidance on audit methodologies procedures and testing techniques
  • Assign and oversee work of junior and support auditors ensuring quality and alignment with audit objectives

What You Bring:

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering Operational Management Finance Accounting Computer Science or Data Analytics. or a related field
  • 7 years of relevant experience
  • Substantial knowledge of IIA Global Internal Audit Standards
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time
  • High ethical standards and integrity; leads by example
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical capabilities and a holistic view of organizational impact
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to build relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to communicate complex findings clearly and diplomatically to senior stakeholders
  • Results-driven with commitment to meeting deadlines
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct
  • PMP and/or CPA designations are assets
  • Trade certification is an asset
