The Opportunity
As a member of the Finance team this position will be responsible for owning the cost accounting function including setting standard costs on an annual basis and ongoing cost accounting strategy planning execution and management. This includes analysis of standard costs versus actuals and explaining variances. The Cost Accounting Manager will play a key role in major cost accounting projects including leading organization price increases or collaborating on cost and pricing targets for new product development. As needed this role will help support the general needs of the organization with financial reporting variance analysis month/year end close and other needs as determined by the Director of Finance.
Responsibilities
- Work with Engineering team on new product development projects to set cost targets
- Review and understand month-end cost related variances including PPV material labor scrap and overhead absorption
- Assist with establishing product sales pricing and support organizational price increases
- Perform standard cost update on an annual basis including updating labor and overhead rates
- Perform in-depth gross margin and profitability analysis by product customer or business segment
- Analyze manufacturing and cost data; convert data into relevant insights and actionable recommendations
Requirements
- 5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Solid understanding of standard cost accounting and inventory principles
- Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing industry practices and processes
- Strong ability to think critically communicate clearly and effectively both verbally & in writing
