Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quality Manager to join our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) quality team located in Multiple Locations!

This hybrid position can be located within 50 miles of any of the listed locations and will require some presence on site at a local Boeing Site This is at the hiring teams discretion and could potentially change in the future: Berkeley MO; Hazelwood MO; Mesa AZ; Ridley Park PA; Huntsville AL; Oklahoma City OK; San Antonio TX; Jacksonville FL; Wichita KS; Seattle WA

This Senior Quality leader position is a key member of the BDS Quality organization reporting directly to Quality Director. Selected leader will interface with executive and senior leadership across the BDS organization divisions programs and functions. This position is looking for a detail oriented highly organized change agent to lead strategy execution with responsibility for NDT skill integration compliance / risk mitigation skill workforce planning partnering across business units and strategic planning toward business needs.

Successful candidates will need the following skills and experience:

  • Ability to serve as a strategic decision maker

  • Leadership experience with integrated technical requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Direct experience communicating collaborating and building consensus with functional stakeholders

  • Effective change leader; Ability to build an environment of inclusion transparency and trust

  • Ability and skill to effectively engage and advise executives and senior leaders within the business thoughtfully challenging leadership when necessary

  • Ability and skill to organize complex details with developed recommendations for executive consumption

  • Working knowledge of quality processes and tools i.e. Root Cause Corrective Action Control of Nonconforming Material

  • Proficient with utilizing Microsoft Office Suite

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage a small direct report team with matrixed leadership oversight for BDS NDT Quality capability while fostering a culture of safety quality and continuous improvement

  • Develop and execute strategies to enhance NDT governance skill workforce planning / pipeline growth and industry partnerships

  • Partner across Enterprise business units on improvement initiatives /advancements strategies for compliance standardization and sustainability of skill within Quality

  • Provide effective communication across teams and leader levels on strategies project execution risks and mitigations

  • Lead and support continuous improvement efforts that cultivate innovative solutions to progress NDT execution and solution paths for constraints

  • Provides education coaching and support for the execution of Quality Management System compliance

  • Interface and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to support and promote health of NDT skill improvement

  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers functional stakeholders / peers and direct reports.

This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring teams discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors degree

  • More than 1 year of experience working with a NDT or NDI (non-destructive inspection) team

  • More than 3 years of experience working with Quality and/or Manufacturing processes and organizations

  • More than 3 years of experience working in project leadership or management

  • More than 3 years of experience managing / supervising in Quality Engineering or Manufacturing supporting AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) or industry / regulatory compliance

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Current or previous ASNT Level II / III certification in one or more NDT methods.

  • 3 years of experience with NDT (non-destructive test) or (NDI (non-destructive inspection)

  • Familiarity with National Aerospace Standard NAS410

  • More than 1 year of quality auditing experience

  • Experience in project leadership that led to innovations performance improvement or risk mitigations

  • Knowledge of Quality and Lean processes and tools
