As a Principal Software Engineer you will be a senior individual contributor role whos remit spans across multiple squads. You will be an engineering expert and leader who has an advanced understanding of your discipline to guide teams and shape the creation and evolution of our digital products. This role is within our Store Operations domain where we aspire to build a best-in-class EPOS system using the latest technologies and software
Whats the job
- Leadership: Is a visionary leader who exerts influence over multiple squads increasing their effectiveness by sharing expert knowledge and experience. A critical thinker able to coach and mentor other engineers with a passion for continuous improvement towards engineering excellence.
- Delivery: Drives significant technology initiatives end-to-end to ensure customer outcomes are met. Collaborates with architects and our Product function to shape roadmaps and steer the long-range goals.
- Engineering Excellence: Drives design and implementation of robust and durable software solutions which solve business-critical problems in a fast-paced environment embedding engineering best practice in collaboration with all Principal Engineers.
- Knowledge Sharing: Fosters a culture of knowledge sharing and provides guidance on how best to achieve across the engineering community.
- Relationship Management: Builds cohesive and trusted relationships with stakeholders within and beyond engineering.
- Self-Management: Role models how to successfully manage skills and personal development and promotes a culture of continuous learning.
- Innovation: Drives a culture of responsible innovation and experimentation; providing perspectives on leading industry tools and trends and recommendations on new and emerging technologies.
What youll bring
- Expert full-stack proficiency with experience working with a range of modern web technologies languages and frameworks notably Java JavaScript and automated test frameworks such as Playwright or Selenium.
- Experience working with cloud-based solutions preferably GCP.
- Extensive experience with CI/CD pipelines and source control systems.
- Ability to lead the creation of robust functional solutions and high-quality code partnering with numerous stakeholders.
- Ability to lead inspire and motivate engineers to consistently deliver value.
- Advanced knowledge and expert understanding of technical concepts with the ability to apply these pragmatically to business opportunities. Exceptional problem-solving skills at an enterprise scale with the ability to lead the implementation of complex solutions across an evolving landscape.
- Adept at identifying and capturing solutions for non-functional requirements for the products and services being delivered.
- Ability to lead and create engineering principles practices and patterns. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
