Job Description:
The Radiology Tech Assistant assists the technologists and physician with duties associated with image acquisition patient care & clerical duties. The Radiology Tech Assistant supports the goals of the department and hospital by through excellent customer relations skills.
Essential Functions
- Processes exposed radiographic cassettes in a timely and accurate manner.
- Able to utilize HIS/RIS/PACS in order to provide best patient care.
- Retrieves images and reports as requested by ULH customers in a timely manner.
- Copies/prints radiographs as requested in a timely manner.
- Answers phone using appropriate customer relations skills and routes calls to appropriate location as needed.
- Processes requisitions in an accurate and timely manner.
- Ensures work area is kept clean neat and orderly and stocked with supplies.
- Maintains an ethical and professional relationship with ULH customers.
- Assists technologist in any manner that expedites patient examination to include transporting lifting/moving patients and completing exams.
- Ensures linen hampers are emptied at end of the respective shift.
- Attends and participates in department staff meetings.
- Assists in orienting new employees.
- Takes an active role in gaining or maintaining proficiency in hospital and radiology equipment and information systems needed in performance of job responsibilities.
- Presents a positive image of the hospital and department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description:
Education / Accreditation / Licensure:
- High School graduate or equivalent (required)
Experience:
- One year in a hospital and previous clerical experience (preferred)
- Medical terminology (preferred)
