Responsibilities

  • Manages daily operations of patient care. Contributes to the maintenance of high quality cost effective services consistent with the needs of the users and the hospitals budgetary guidelines.
  • Provides clinical leadership by directing coordinating and delegating patient care in an organized manner allowing for flexibility.
  • Acts as an interdepartmental liaison promoting effective multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health care team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Participates in patient care pertinentto each clinical specialty.
  • Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations affecting patient care. Remains current on law/regulation changes recognizes implications to the organization and recommends courses ofaction to ensure compliance.
  • Assists in the development of policy/procedure and guidelines for safe efficientoperation of the department.
  • Assists in developing annual budget authorizes expenditures according to the signature authorization policy and monitors performance; takes corrective action when appropriate to maintain control of financial resources.
  • Researches and recommendsshort and long termstrategies to meet the patient care needs. Assists with the achievement of objectives and necessary modifications for attainment of goals.
  • Interviews coordinates orientation schedules and evaluates new employees. Disciplines and terminates staff with appropriate input. Demonstrates the ability to fairly and consistently interpret apply and follow personnel policies/procedures.
  • Participates in professional organizations and community related projects for personal and professional development representing UPH in a positive manner.

Qualifications

  • Education: Nursing Degree Bachelors Degree
  • Experience: One year experience as a registered nurse.
  • Licensure: Current Iowa RN license required Current BCLS (CPR)
