Job Description:
The Wall Street Journal is seeking an experienced high-energy news editor to play a central role in our London newsroom. You will lead a team on the London hub driving coverage when news breaks and ensuring our journalism is fast accurate and distinctive across platforms.
This role requires both newsroom leadership and hands-on editing: you will commission edit and publishsometimes writethe first takes of major breaking stories. Youll also play a key role in live coverage including making decisions to launch world live blogs.
Beyond breaking news you will serve as the lead project manager for creating rich reader-focused digital experiences. From conception to publication youll collaborate across bureaus time zones and teamsincluding visuals video audio design publishing and audienceto bring ambitious stories to life.
Youll also help shape the Journals daily line-up craft sharp headlines and alerts and champion creative storytelling across formats.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of editors driving coverage on core WSJ platforms
Ensure the Journal is first and authoritative on major breaking stories
Oversee live coverage including world live blogs
Guide cross-team projects to deliver compelling digital storytelling
Requirements
10 years of journalism experience
Experience managing reporters or editors
Proven editing skills and exceptional writing ability
Strong experience creating engaging digital news experiences
Comfort working with visuals data charts and social platforms
Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends
