Job Description

We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Tax Regulatory and Compliance Specialist to manage VAT exemption processes and ensure full compliance with Philippine tax regulations. This role involves coordination with government agencies and the U.S. Embassy to secure necessary clearances track milestones and support foreign tax relief implementation.

This is a nationwide project and we need someone who is willing to travel and take on assignments at various project sites across the country.

This position is contingent upon the award of the contract

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of VAT exemption and reimbursement processes under Section 108(B)(2) of the Philippine Tax Code and relevant BIR rulings.
  • Coordinate with BIR DOF DTI and LGUs for tax rulings permits and related clearances
  • Monitor and track progress of tax exemption applications and permitting milestones
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with local laws regulations and codes relevant to tax and regulatory processes
  • Maintain organized records of tax exemption documents licenses permits and correspondences
  • Liaise with the U.S. Embassy and our client on approvals related to tax matters
  • Provide guidance on regulatory risks and mitigation strategies related to customs import duties and compliance
  • Stay updated on relevant legal frameworks diplomatic notes and DoD foreign tax relief policies

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field
  • With relevant experience in government or military service
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in regulatory compliance preferably on international or donor-funded projects
  • Strong knowledge of the Philippine Tax Code especially Section 108(B)(2) on VAT zero-rating
  • Familiar with key BIR rulings and circulars including VATand 134-2018
  • Experience working with BIR DOF DTI and Local Government Units (LGUs)
  • Understanding of international agreements SOFA and DoD tax relief policies
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage documentation and reporting requirements
  • Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal
