The Director of University Advancement Communication will execute on the Advancement communication strategy to support the Universitys fundraising stewardship and engagement goals in alignment with the Universitys brand Strategic Plan and capital campaign. The Director will draw on the strengths and talents of the University Communication and Marketing team working with partners in University Advancement and its various departments including Alumni Relations Annual Giving Athletics Development Family Engagement and Philanthropy Special Events and Regional Development as well as the Universitys six Schools and Colleges to manage an array of communication and marketing projects. The Director will oversee the tactical day-to-day operations and budget of the UAC department. The Director will also undertake and manage a portfolio of projects on priority advancement communication and marketing initiatives in consultation with the Assistant Vice President University Advancement Communication. Duties And Responsibilities
Directs the execution of the Advancement communication strategy and oversees the day-to-day operations of the UAC department. This includes project and event communication assignments as well as oversight and ensuring projects are approved by various teams/leadership across print web video and social media consultation with the Assistant Vice President University Advancement Communication successfully undertakes and manages a portfolio of projects on priority advancement communication initiatives. Supervises two Assistant Directors of Advancement and one Operations Manager. Creates and monitors the UAC annual budget to ensure operating expenditures are within budget. Provides financial projection information to the Senior Director of Finance and Administration as requested. Monitors and ensures compliance with UACs annual performance management cycle requirements. Performs additional duties and assists with projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in communications marketing journalism or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience can be considered. At least 10 years of relevant experience in communication and marketing. Must be able to supervise direct reports and manage multiple projects priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced ever-changing environment. Must have knowledge of communication and marketing as well as a proven understanding of Advancement. Must have the ability to direct the execution of the Advancement communication strategy and manage the daily tactical and budget operations of a department. Must exhibit the following: be a team player and strong communicator (verbal and written) with excellent organizational and project management skills; be a flexible upbeat and energetic self-starter who enjoys collaborating with a wide variety of constituencies; have strong interpersonal skills and be able to maintain excellent internal/external relationships; be able to work effectively in teams of varying size and composition both in and out of leadership roles; and be able to handle challenging situations with diplomacy and tact even under pressure. Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in communications or a related field preferred. Demonstrated success in achieving development and alumni engagement communication goals within an academic or large-scale non-profit preferred.
