This position engages students in academic decision-making processes and encourages responsible choices related to course selection and degree requirements. It involves maintaining appropriate confidentiality updating student advising records and contributing to the planning and delivery of academic advising events and programs. The role is focused on ensuring that students receive accurate timely and holistic advising services that support their success retention and program completion. Additionally the position strives to foster a welcoming equitable and inclusive work environment.
This position is responsible for:
Providing holistic advising to current Honors College students through individual sessions and periodic group meetings or workshops.
Learning requirements for all majors across campus and working closely with school and college advisors to ensure that students in all majors can fulfill the requirements of the Honors College.
Planning and implementing college/campus initiatives to increase student retention and graduation rates.
Attend and periodically represent the Honors College at related campus meetings.
Assisting with the recruitment of prospective students.
Assisting with the planning and implementation of Honors College events such as new student convocation new student orientations the Honors graduation reception and other activities and projects related to the Honors College community and student success.

A completed bachelors degree (to be earned by the date of hire)
At least one year experience working with high school students college students and/or parents related to higher education
Masters degree in psychology counseling student development higher education leadership or a related field (to be earned by the date of hire)
Prior college advising experience
Prior experience planning events
Strong written skills including demonstrated ability to take accurate notes in meetings with students communicate clearly with students and staff and prepare written materials for marketing/recruitment purposes and social media/web purposes
Experience with public speaking
Proven ability to multi-task and problem solve in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrated experience using electronic databases and/or case management systems such as: Excel Access Navigate and PeopleSoft to effectively collect and utilize data
Evidence of ability to relate well to people of all ages and backgrounds
Prior experience in an Honors Program or College
