Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Systems Administrator (Windows) to provide operational leadership and technical expertise across classified and unclassified environments. This role is critical to ensuring the availability security resiliency and optimization of IT infrastructure that supports customer and mission requirements.
Key Responsibilities
IT Operations & Infrastructure Support
- Lead the full lifecycle of IT support including design implementation maintenance troubleshooting upgrades and cybersecurity.
- Manage IT infrastructure operations ensuring system availability resiliency performance monitoring and capacity planning.
- Provide hands-on support for system administration data management Help Desk functions hardware/software configuration and end-user support.
- Oversee change management incident/problem management and configuration management (CfM).
Systems Administration & Engineering
- Provide administration and lifecycle support for multiple Operating Systems (Windows RedHat RedHawk HPUX Solaris AIX OpenVMS CentOS and real-time operating systems).
- Manage diverse server hardware platforms (VAX ALPHA SPARC x86 PA-RISC Concurrent) and enterprise storage solutions (SAN NAS storage controllers fiber fabric switch technologies).
- Administer vendor storage technologies such as NetApp Vast Dell EMC Synology and Quantum.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Support disaster recovery planning and execution ensuring systems can be restored per requirements.
- Manage hardware/software backup solutions including tape jukeboxes smart disk systems and native OS or vendor-specific software (Dell EMC Networker Quantum Clonezilla).
- Maintain system images to ensure recovery readiness.
Security & Compliance
- Implement and monitor cybersecurity measures ensuring compliance with DoD security standards.
- Maintain proficiency in major network security tools (e.g. firewalls intrusion detection antivirus).
- Conduct vulnerability analysis and apply mitigation strategies against evolving threats.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead technical teams in the design monitoring and optimization of IT systems.
- Provide mentorship knowledge sharing and guidance to junior administrators.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align IT capabilities with mission objectives.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
- Six (6) years of professional leadership experience in Windows system administration.
- Demonstrated expertise in:
- System backup and recovery
- Security and library management
- Installation and configuration of hardware OS and COTS software
- Performance tuning and troubleshooting of hardware/software/networks
- Network protocols including TCP/IP
- Experience in developing system specifications conducting market research and procurement tasks.
- Strong knowledge of vulnerabilities attack methods and detection techniques.
Clearance: Active Top Secret clearance.
Certification: IAT II certification (CCNA Security CySA GICSP SecurityCE etc.).
Preferred: Education: Masters degree in Engineering Computer Science or Information Systems.
