Job Summary

Department Overview

The PIMC provides Intermediate level care for Medical/Surgical patients 0-18 years of age excluding obstetric patients. Populations served include non-ICU Neurosurgical Video EEG and spectrum scan Peritoneal Dialysis Chronic trach/ventilated patients Select Hyperbilirubinemia Select Cardiac Surgery and Research Patients complex post op patients including orthopedic spine patients cranis and bladder augmentations.

Function/Duties of Position

Department Specific Working Conditions:

This unit utilizes a Red Yellow Green light system to communicate an individual nurse workload. It is expected that within 2 hours of receiving the assignment a nurse indicates on the patient tracking board their status:

  • Green: Workload requirements allow for another admission.
  • Yellow: Workload requirements will allow for a low acuity additional admission.
  • Red: Workload requirements do not allow for another admission and please ask me if I need help.

The charge nurse will validate the workload level and assist the nurses in revaluation of their workload at least every 4 hours or more often as needed.

Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN)

Required Qualifications

  • BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
  • ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
  • Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
  • Current unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
  • BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • BLS must not expire during orientation
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
