Job Description
Job Title : Data Center Technician Hands and Feet
Location : 24400 W Valley Parkway Olathe KS - 66061
Job Description:
We are looking for a hard working individual interested in beginning a career as a data center technician. You will be a member of a small team providing 24x7x365 supporting 70k sqft of IT equipment. You will learn and be responsible for the installation diagnosing troubleshooting repairing and decommissioning thousands of servers network equipment and supporting cabling.
You will be able to provide users with technical hands-on support while providing excellent customer service while ensuring the safety and confidentiality of the data within the facility. Team members may have opportunities to visit and provide temporary support of two other data centers as needed while working to improve the efficiency and utilization of all data center locations.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair IT equipment within assigned Service Level Agreements
- Follow and enforce data security practices
- Follow media destruction process
- Install connect commission maintain and decommission IT hardware
- Maintain documentation and procedures
- Update IT equipment asset tracking systems
- Install and maintain copper and fiber cable in an organized & orderly fashion
- Understand basics of physical troubleshooting
- Maintain IT Equipment recycling/disposal activities
- Work on a small team while promoting a collaborative environment
- Understand the fundamentals of electricity
- Continually learn adapt and demonstrate your knowledge on a monthly basis
Requirements:
- Ability to work independently
- Above average troubleshooting skills
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to use a ladder at heights near 15ft.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify common problems and provide solutions
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with remote teams
- Must be able to follow instructions of senior technicians.
- Ability to stay current on different server network and Storage Area Networks and all their sub parts.
- Must be willing to work on-call rotation which includes nights and weekends.
