Job Summary
The Department ofMathematics in the College of Arts and Sciencesat Lehigh University seeks a motivated and talented Postdoctoral Research Associate to contribute to our research initiatives and academic programs. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with ProfessorYue Yu in the field of applied/computational topics of interest include large language models with applications to various science and engineering disciplines. This position is intended for new or recent Ph.D. in applied/computational mathematics computational science chemical engineering or related disciplines.
Position Number: RC1750
Anticipated Salary: $61010 - Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience including benefits.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Design execute and analyze experiments contributing to the overall goals of the research group.
Prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at conferences.
Assist in the mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students providing guidance on experimental techniques data analysis and project development.
Contribute to grant writing including assisting in the development of proposals and identifying funding opportunities.
Participate in departmental seminars workshops and other events engaging with the academic community.
Contribute to teaching responsibilities including delivering lectures leading lab sessions and supporting curriculum development (subject to department needs and funding agency requirements).
Qualifications:
Applicants should hold a doctorate degreein Applied/Computational Mathematics Computational Science Chemical Engineering or related disciplines completed by the start of the appointment.
Qualified candidates should have prior research and publications in related field.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to fostering an inclusive research and teaching environment.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
- Experiences in large language models molecular modeling and simulations and/or polymer science are preferred but not required.
- Strong past experience in scientific machine learning.
Terms of Appointment:
This is a full-time one-year position with a potential 1-year extension based on performance and funding availability. The position will start on a mutually agreed-upon date.
