Job Summary

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a High Power Computing Professional to work on our High Power Computing team. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our C3 facility with every other Friday off.

Research definition procurement selection development installation configuration debugging patching operation and maintenance of High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems. Working with supercomputers multiprocessor shared-memory computers GPU systems high-performance disk storage systems specialized high-speed network systems high-end 3D visualization hardware and data center infrastructure.

Responsibilities Include:

Diagnose and solve HPC system operational problems.
Install configure and maintain HPC system software.
Develop automation scripts for processes.
Develop machine learning models for post irradiation examination.
Troubleshoot and tune HPC systems and software for performance.
Conduct system performance analysis and tuning.
Interact with users to resolve HPC-related issues and provide training.
Document software administration procedures.
Assist with backups of unclassified local area networks.
Apply security updates and adhere to NIST controls.
Collaborate with cybersecurity personnel to address critical vulnerabilities.
Provide software license installation support.
Support HPC workflow management software such as SLURM.
Coordinate with software vendors to resolve issues as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Level 1: Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Computer Science or related technical field and 0 experience.
  • Level 2: Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Computer Science or related technical field and 2 years of relevant experience; or an advanced degree in Information Technology Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience with Linux administration tools and software.
  • Basic knowledge of common Linux services protocols and ports.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • This position is subject to Export Control restrictions per the Department of Energy. You must be a US Citizen.

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 1 ($65064 - $133416) / Level 2 ($77628 - $159228). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education relevant experience and other credentials.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this classification the employee is frequently required to stand walk sit stoop kneel bend use hands to handle materials manipulate tools keyboard and type reach with hands and arms and operate job-related equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with people is required.
