SAFETY PROFESSIONAL FOR HEAVY CIVIL CONSTRUCTION AUSTIN TEXAS AREA
Searching for an experienced professional dedicated Safety Professional for large-scale heavy civil projects in Texas. Experience levels from mid-senior ( 5 years to 15 years) in the heavy civil site. Safety Professionals need to be able to work in various weather conditions potentially in rugged terrain and may be required to travel. Utility Federal large-diameter pipe WWTP and/or infrastructure safety project experience is required. Must be open to project travel and PM shifts as needed
As a safety professional you must possess excellent attention to detail to identify hazards discover opportunities for improvement and effectively execute various safety programs. A strong ability to communicate safety guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential. Safety Professionals ensure the workplace meets all legal expectations and actively support the company OSHA and project guidelines and specifications. The ability to travel from project to project and long-term travel may be required.

General Job Duties of a Site Safety Professional:
- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to company project and legal guidelines
- Providesafetytraining for employees on policies regulations and procedures
- Assist in new employee training for company safety policy and ongoing company safety programs and training
- Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
- Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines
- Analyze incident reports metrics and injury case studies to institute changes that lead to a safer environment
- Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causesand handle workers compensation claims
- Conducts safety meetings audits and inspections to ensure compliance evaluate performance identify corrective action and implement follow-up assessments
- Plans implements and conducts preventative care safety and compliance training programs
- Provides the project management team with guidance on health and safety and confirms project site fulfills industry local state and federal guidelines and regulations
- Collaborates with management to develop an Emergency Action Plan and serve as primary contact for project site injury and incident notification investigation and case management. Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities reports and correspondence
- Guarantees that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals internal policies and procedures contract documents and good engineering practices
- Other duties as assigned per project position and company
Job Skills & Qualifications/Education Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Safety Health Engineering or related discipline preferred but not required
- Minimum 5years of large-scale infrastructure heavy civil safety experience Required
- Current certifications in First Aid CPR OSHA 510 and 30-hour Construction Safety Required
- Strong ability in producing reports and developing relevant safety policies
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of data analysis and risk assessment
- Excellent organizational and motivational skills
- Strong outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently when needed but a strong desire to work in a team environment
- Valid qualification in occupational health and safety
- Strong Conflict management and problem-solving skills
- Excellent Leadership ability
- Excellent written and verbal communication meeting and presentation skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently safely and successfully with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular punctual attendance consistent with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards
- Ability to work in potentially rugged environments and in varied weather conditions
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk listen and speak clearly on the telephone
