SUMMARY

The Delivery Driver Trainee is a full-time hourly position serving as a steppingstone into a Relief and then Driver position. Once a Trainee has met the requirements they will attend a CDL-A course as needed to acquire a CDL driving permit and CDL-A license. Caffey Distributing will cover the cost of obtaining a CDL-A License backed by a 2-year promissory note of employment. The primary purpose of the Delivery Driver Trainee is to deliver merchandise and service accounts in the assigned route while maintaining the quality of our products and promoting a safe work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete CDL course to learn how to operate a CDL-A vehicle safely
  • Is familiar with and certified to use all types of delivery equipment pallet jacks docks and dock-levelers trucks and trailers per Caffey Dist. And OSHA standards.
  • Learn how to properly deliver stops in all areas and departments to ensure flexibility.
  • Learn how to prepare invoices collect payment from customers and record transactions on customer receipt.
  • Listen to and resolve service complaints.
  • Represent Caffey Distributing Company/Carolina Premium Beverage in a professional manner and provide excellent customer service.
  • Maintain a friendly working relationship with the Manager on each account on all routes in assigned area
  • Confer with Area Delivery Managers to resolve customer problems opportunities competitive activity in your market and potential overage situations
  • Check in product with Store Manager following store policy.
  • Restock cold boxes displays shelves and other areas where product is available for sale.
  • Responsible for keeping back stock cold box and displays rotated and in a clean and organized manner
  • Adhere to company account and merchandising standards in all accounts.
  • Responsible for adhering to Overage Beer Policy
  • Maintain safe driving record and comply with company driving policy.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings and company functions as required.
  • Adhere to dress code including safety non-negotiables and be properly groomed at all times
  • Obey all federal state and local laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Requires common intelligence such as the ability to use simple gauges or instruments that require no interpretation. Must follow oral instructions and occasionally use simple writing or arithmetic skills. High School diploma or GED is not required. No experience required.

INITIATIVE AND INGENUITY

Requires the use of little judgment to follow instructions using simple equipment in performing duties where the employee is told what to do and has little or no choice as to the procedures used for achieving results.

MENTAL / VISUAL / AUDITORY DEMAND

Occasional mental or visual attention since either the operation is practically automatic or the duties require attention only at long intervals.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR EQUIPMENT

Limited makes minor adjustments to equipment; however equipment is not sensitive and damages are unlikely under normal use and care.

RESONSIBILITY FOR MATERIAL OR PRODUCT

Works with materials/product where errors would usually be detected and could be re-worked without major loss of materials.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR SAFETY OF OTHERS

Only reasonable care to own work necessary to prevent injury to others and accidents should they occur would be minor in nature such as cuts bruises abrasions etc.

Somewhat disagreeable work conditions. While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions and sometimes exposed to dust dirt heat fumes cold noise vibration water oil etc. with some being present to the extent of being disagreeable.

HAZARDS

Injuries should they occur may result in loss of time due to crushed hand or foot loss of fingers or toes eye injuries chemical burns etc.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Requires the ability to read write complete simple forms and understand simple written instructions.

Requires the ability to perform arithmetic skills such as addition subtraction multiplication and division including decimals and fractions.
