Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Communication English Marketing Public Relations or related field.
  • Multilingualism is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication skills including the ability to actively listen to others work cooperatively build consensus and create stories that highlight the districts achievements.
  • Ability to manage online presence of Manchester School District on all social media applications and platforms.
  • Knowledge of District Policy and the policy development process.
  • Familiarity with Right to Know Law requirements.

Specific Core Function:

The Creative Director of Communication & Social Media shall provide operational assistance through management of the districts online presence and relationships with community news organizations/outlets. They will facilitate the resolution of complex issues by supporting the work of the Superintendents Educational Leadership Team. They shall ensure that important issues in the public domain are brought to the Superintendents attention in a timely fashion. The Creative Director of Communication & Social Media shall support the Superintendent and district personnel in the preparation for public events and in such other capacities with governmental and community partners and addition they shall facilitate communication with all other community stakeholders and parents.

Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Manage and monitors online presence of the Manchester School District on all social media applications/platforms and news organizations/outlets.
  • Revise and update districts website and associated materials.
  • Manage special assignments on a short-term basis.
  • Create stories that demonstrate academic excellence within the student body.
  • Create public interest stories that demonstrate excellence and support the districts mission and established goals.
  • Draft and revise press releases.
  • Preparation of online posts stories presentations speeches and print materials.
  • Provide communication support to district administrative staff.
  • Assess and manage sensitive issues that arise in the rapidly changing environment of the school district where improper handling could have serious consequences.
  • Gather information analyze and interpret online/news material and provide recommendations to the Superintendent.
  • Provide leadership for the functions of district communications including the public acknowledgement of contributions and accomplishments of staff students and community.
  • Provide communications support for the districts strategic plan in all activities.
  • Develop monitor and maintain an integrated communications network within and between schools departments and the community in order to support an effective learning and work environment.
  • Perform such duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Collaborates with appropriate staff to develop maintain and revise communication systems and processes.
  • Participates in the district-level decision process to the extent necessary to communicate the districts goals objectives and instructional achievements.
  • Manages and maintains productive and effective relationships with news sources/organizations.

Specified Length/Hours of Position:

  • This is a full year (228 day) non-affiliated position.
