This position will have primary responsibility to oversee and provide support to home health intake. This will include managing referrals and initial and ongoing authorization. This position will also be responsible for overseeing the initial plan of care through the coding process.
Qualifications:
Nursing Diploma and/or Associate Degree in Nursing
Current and valid Registered Nurse license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or from a state that is part of a Compact agreement with Virginia
3 years of nursing experience and 1 year of home health experience
Preferred Qualifications:
BSN MSN
Billing or insurance experience
Essential Job Duties:
Directly oversee the intake/authorization team
Provide daily oversight
o Perform annual performance review
o Participate in coaching and disciplinary actions as needed
Maintain ongoing communication with referral sources
o Work closely with Post Acute Care Coordinator
Functions as a resource for all stages of the referral process
Review all referrals for completeness
Enter new referrals
Verify insurance eligibility
Obtain insurance authorization and ongoing re-authorizations
Work closely with the billing team to determine best practice in insurance authorization
Oversee coding vendor including communicating and problem solving
Oversee the plan of care on admission and at recertification including auditing for completeness.
Personal Growth-
Assumes responsibility for own personal education and developmental needs.
Displays positive attitude and flexibility toward work unit.
Cooperates with interdisciplinary team members and other units to meet the needs of the patient.
Attends all staff meetings on working days unless approved by management
If unable to attend responsible for obtaining information covered in the meetings
Attends in-services as required or requested by leadership
Being punctual for all meetings and in-services
Minimizes absences per AH attendance policy
Quality-
Participate in quality improvement initiatives including maintaining knowledge of department PI
projects.
Leadership
Participate as a member of the home health leadership team
Assumes responsibility for own personal continuing education and developmental needs continually evaluate oneself for improvement and seek resources to improve and expand knowledge and foster growth
