Join the leading Brachytherapy program in the state as a Registered Nurse Specialty Coordinator in Radiation Oncology. This dynamic role offers a high level of autonomy and the opportunity to work closely with a multidisciplinary team of physicians medical physicists radiation therapists and fellow nurses. You will be instrumental in coordinating care for a high volume of patients with gynecologic cancers across the state ensuring seamless treatment planning and execution.

Under general supervision the specialty coordinator provides individualized goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the proficient level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results. The proficient nurse consistently models excellence in patient care and contributes to unit leadership.

Job Description

The specialty coordinator provides individualized goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the proficient level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results. The proficient nurse consistently models excellence in patient care and contributes to unit leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Care Coordination:Collaborate with a second RN coordinator to manage the scheduling planning and execution of treatments for patients receiving brachytherapy.

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration:Work in close partnership with radiation oncologists medical physicists radiation therapists and nursing staff to deliver high-quality patient-centered care.

  • Autonomous Scheduling:Exercise independence in managing your weekly schedule and patient flow while maintaining alignment with clinical priorities.

  • Patient Advocacy:Serve as a primary point of contact for patients guiding them through complex treatment pathways with compassion and clarity.

  • Clinical Excellence:Maintain high standards of clinical practice documentation and safety in accordance with institutional and regulatory guidelines.

  • Process Improvement:Identify opportunities for workflow optimization and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the growing brachytherapy program.

Minimum Education and Requirements: Bachelors degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing and a minimum of three years related clinical nursing work experience required. Licensure a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or compact state required. Certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA) preferred. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
