About this Position

The Destination MT team works to sustain and grow Montanas economy. The programs work with the Marketing and Communications team to develop and use communications advertising and promotional campaigns to showcase Montana and create awareness about the state as a place to visit and do business. Through data-driven strategies and grant programs the team aims to preserve and promote the genuine character of Montana and partners to achieve a sustainable economic future for all.

The Communications & Program Outreach Supervisor manages the communications and outreach team for the Office of Tourism and will work to enhance programs and align efforts with Destination MT strategic goals mission vision and plans to provide support to tourism partners. This position will provide guidance and oversight for staff operations for Made in Montana membership development program communications social media and content development and manage Tourism Promotion Liaison. The position is also responsible for coordination with other programs outreach and education staff to provide customer service and industry engagement.

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelors in Communications Public Relations Marketing or similar field
  • 2 years of supervisory experience required
  • Applicable experience with Event planning public relations program planning facilitation managing and directing marketing and business development initiatives tourism promotion
  • Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • It would pique our interest if you had experience planning Tradeshows and conferences hospitality or tourism industry experience

Competencies:

Knowledge of:

  • Contracting budgeting and program planning
  • Tourism as an economic driver
  • Marketing travel and tourism program development and management Montana as a travel destination its cities towns rural areas and attractions.

Ability to:

  • Manage multiple large-scale programs with competing deadlines delegate tasks work effectively within a team and supervise staff
  • Provide excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Develop Communications plans and collateral for multiple programs for various audiences
