DescriptionMcKinney Vento Advisors assist students experiencing homelessness with obtaining access to resources and supports as well as navigating the process for college and career readiness.
ResponsibilitiesExamples of Duties:
- Assist unaccompanied and homeless high school students in applying to college or trade schools.
- Inform unaccompanied and homeless high school students of their rights according to FAFSA.
- Assist unaccompanied and homeless high school students in completing their FAFSA applications.
- Provide information and resources to unaccompanied and homeless high school students regarding college applications FAFSA applications academic requirements and any other college/career related questions.
- Organize plan and lead college visits for unaccompanied and homeless high school students.
- Assist provide guidance and practice essay writing for college applications for unaccompanied and homeless high school students.
- Organize plan and lead family engagement nights for unaccompanied and homeless high school students around topics associated with college/career opportunities including scholarships.
- Maintain all required records and documentation. Provides required documents to the Homeless Education Office.
- Attend all required professional development and meetings.
- Offer continuum of care homeless referrals as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned
QualificationsEducation and Experience:
- Possession of a bachelors degree (retirees are welcomed to apply).
Part time and full time options are available.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Technology competency.
- Knowledge of spelling grammar and arithmetic.
- Knowledge of and skill in the use of database internet spreadsheet word processing Microsoft Office 365 and related applications.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to properly maintain confidential information.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to follow rules and regulations.
Physical and Environmental Conditions:
The work in this class is generally performed in a school environment. Work may require the ability to move within the school and classroom setting.
Conditions of Employment:
Employment in this position is contingent upon successfully passing a background DSS and criminal history check. Employees must have submitted an application for employment to the Office of Temporary Services.
Citizenship residency or work VISA in United States required
Hourly Rate: $37.42
FLSA: Non-Exempt

Pre-Employment Requirements:
- All people employed by the Baltimore County Public Schools regular and temporary are required to be fingerprinted and have a criminal background investigation (per COMAR) completed. The fee charged for fingerprinting is $109.
- Anyone offered employment is required to provide proper identification and documentation of eligibility for employment in the US.
- If you have military experience you will be asked to provide a copy of DD214.
- Official transcripts will be required upon hire and must be sent via escript/clearinghouse from your university.
