We are seeking Burmese Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Burmese (Myanmar language) is a priority Southeast Asian language often required for asylum refugee and immigration cases.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time Burmese English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers applicants and stakeholders.
- Interpret with accuracy impartiality and confidentiality in immigration asylum and legal contexts.
- Comply with USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics and professional standards.
- Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
- Participate in training compliance refreshers and quality assurance audits.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Burmese and English.
- 2 years of professional interpreting experience (immigration refugee/asylum medical or government preferred).
- Strong understanding of interpreter ethics confidentiality and cultural awareness.
- Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
