About the Role

We are looking to recruit highly motivated and experienced investigators with a sound understanding of legal process and who have proven experience of complex fraud investigations.

You will be joining a team of experienced and dedicated officers in a fast paced environment working on multiple fraud cases to maintain the high standards expected to meet the needs of the community. The nature of our investigations includes rogue doorstep traders second hand car dealers and sellers of counterfeit goods. Our priorities include protecting and safeguarding vulnerable consumers and dealing robustly and dynamically with rogue traders.

As level 3 Trading Standards Officers you will be motivated and driven to contribute to your team the Service and Council strategic outcomes.

About You

To apply for this post you must:

  • Hold an appropriate trading standards regulatory compliance or law-related qualification commensurate with the purpose and main responsibilities of the position.
  • Extensive evidence of continuous professional development in an enforcement/regulatory discipline and extensive demonstrable experience in complex fraud related criminal investigation including the preparation of evidential material for legal proceedings.
  • Demonstrable ability in interpreting and applying appropriate legislation; enabling you to lead on and undertake a range of criminal investigations and enforcement actions. Extensive knowledge of RIPA CPIA and PACE.
  • Extensive knowledge of the legislative framework in a regulatory and criminal investigation enforcement context.
  • The ability to prioritise and plan ones own workload in the context of conflicting priorities and work on ones own initiative.
  • The ability to communicate effectively to assimilate information rapidly and present it orally or in writing clearly unambiguously and concisely.
  • Supervisory or mentoring experience from an operational perspective.

You must also have an understanding of and commitment toequality diversity and inclusion.
