Position Summary
This position is a contract-based faculty appointment typically either 7 or 15 weeks in duration depending on course format.
Columbia Colleges online Masters in Education in Higher Education Administration program generates resilient leaders and innovative practitioners. Columbia College is seeking experienced higher education professionals to serve as adjunct instructors to teach a variety of 7-week asynchronous fully online classes in the areas ofhigher education administration (ex. academic affairs student affairs assessment finance and planning legal issues and compliance current issues and trends). Columbia College instructors are knowledgeable and committed to developing engaging learning experiences and connecting individually with students.
Requirements for online educators include a terminal degree in higher education administration/leadership curriculum and instruction or associated fields. Priority will be given to applicants with prior experience with Canvas. Instructors are expected to adhere to all college policies and procedures teach in accordance with established course goals and student learning outcomes and uphold the mission and values of Columbia College.
Qualifications
Essential Job Functions
- Teaches higher education administration online classes.
- Mentors graduate-level students.
- Contributes to course and program assessment efforts.
Minimum Requirements to Perform Work
- Terminal degree in higher education administration/leadership education curriculum student affairs etc.
- Preference may be given to applicants with prior college teaching experience and familiarity with Canvas.
- Must have some familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
- Ability to plan organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to meet schedules and timelines.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; excellent interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands
- Requires sedentary work that involves reading and responding online and performing or routine keyboard operations.
