The new University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty department of Radiology is seeking an Imaging Technologistto perform and teach specialized general diagnostic radiography procedures utilizing complex imaging equipment with close patient monitoring during general radiography procedures in multiple areas within the hospital including Adult and Pediatric Radiology Dexa emergency room OR fluoroscopy and orthopedic clinic.
Duties Include:
- Perform radiography procedures using a variety of imaging equipment. Operate fixed and portable radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic imaging studies.
- Provide instruction to trainees students and other medical staff on operation and safety precautions.
- Has knowledge and understanding of key Service Excellence principles for interactions with patients and staff.
- Establish rapport with patient and provide information about how the exam is performed and what is required of the patient.
- Utilize standard safety precautions to minimize or eliminate risks to patients personnel and equipment.
- Prepare and administer contrast material to patients under radiologists supervision as required.

Experience Requirements
- Senior Imaging Technologist: A Bachelors degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Senior Imaging Technologist: Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Imaging Technologist: RequiresSuccessful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required.
Certification Requirements (Senior Imaging Technologist and Imaging Technologist)
- Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
- Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required.
Desirable Qualifications(Senior Imaging Technologist and Imaging Technologist)
- Previous work or clinical education experience in general radiology in a level 1 Trauma center is desired.
- Recent work or clinical education experience in general radiography is desired.
