As our Medical Assistant Lead - STI you will support Clinicians in the Community Records and Health Division by providing health care services such as preparing patient rooms performing health screenings obtaining medical history taking vital signs and performing venipuncture to prepare the patients for evaluation by the Clinician to help prevent the spread of communicable diseases. You will also support the Clinic Supervisor managing the flow of the clinic and the work of the clinic staff so that patients are provided with high-quality health care and exceptional service.

We Require
Two years of experience working in the medical field as a Medical Assistant including experience with electronic medical records and venipuncture
High school diploma or GED
We Also Value
Lead or supervisory experience
Experience working with State regulatory and licensing requirements for an Outpatient Treatment Center
Bilingual skills in English/Spanish
Job Contributions
Prepares patients for their appointments by accompanying them to the examining room and facilitates the patient flow through the practice of anticipating patient and provider needs
Ensures exam rooms are clean stocked and appropriately set up each day prior to rooming patients
Performs routine medical tasks of drawing blood administering injections and preparing patients for examinations and treatment
Assists the provider with examinations of patient and administering/ordering diagnostic tests procedures and treatment
Provides patient care as directed by the provider and as allowed by license certification or registration
Documents patient care using electronic or other medical records systems and computer applications in accordance with regulatory requirements quality initiatives policies and procedures
Assists in patient education by providing informational handouts an after-visit summary and/or treatment plan summary as instructed by the Clinician
Receives and records lab test results via telephone or computer and ensures that those results and related reports are with the patients medical record at the time of patients visit
Assists in supervising the daily operations of a Public Health Clinic monitors workflow processes and provides direction to staff to ensure the clinic is operating smoothly and patients are being seen in a timely manner in coordination with or in the absence of the Clinic Supervisor
As a delegate of the supervisor troubleshoots and corrects problems resolves conflicts customer concerns and complaints escalated by staff or medical providers
Supports and executes quality control and assurance activities in coordination with the Clinic Supervisor proposes and initiates changes to improve quality patient care and cost effectiveness
Ensures adequate supplies and pharmaceuticals are available and ordered as needed and that items are stored and maintained properly
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a clinical setting and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
Ability to exert up to 20 lbs. occasionally 10 lbs. frequently or negligible amounts constantly and requires walking/standing to a significant degree
Travel may be required to attend conferences training and possibly varying work locations as assigned by the Administrative Supervisor Program Supervisor Division Administrator or Medical Director subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles or private vehicles on County business
Must be able to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency
